Convergence

In the early 20th century, physicists successfully discovered the secret behind the atom. To make the best use of atom, we need convergence. The way scientists, physical scientist, and engineering think are different, but if we design a new for them to work together, we could create a new way to solve the problem that we are facing(Nasem, 2014). Technology

convergence is when two or more technologies and functions

combine together to make things disappear (Ward, 2015). On

the atomic level, there is a free space between electrons and

nucleus. Scientists from International Business Machines have

finally figured out a new way to store data on a single atom

for the first time. This discovery could potentially change the

way we store information in the future (Wehner, 2017).

Self-Driving Cars

The convergence of Artificial Intelligence with the Internet of Things and other technologies, brand new technology will be created. Recently, Google’s A.I beats a few top players in a few games, such as Chess, Scrabble, Othello and Jeopardy (Metz, 2016). These show us that A.I is better and smarter than human.

Autonomous car or The self-driving car is considered as a new disruptive innovation and also consider as an innovation that will change the world (Simao, 2015). The Self-driving car sounds like a fresh new technology that had just invented, while the first real test of self-driving cars was tested and developed by Carnegie Mellon University Navigation Laboratory in the 1980s (Sawers, 2016). Recently, Tesla announced that all vehicles that produced by Tesla will come out with full self-driving hardware; the onboard computer that uses to run the new generation of Tesla come with more than 40 times the computing power of the previous generation (Theteslateam, 2016). The technologies that Tesla use for their vehicles is far beyond the human senses. Moreover, Google also has been working on its self-driving car project since 2009, in that year Google used a Toyota Prius retrofitted with the new technology and tested on a road, later on, Google retrofitted Lexus SUVs and tested on freeways and city streets in 2012, two years later, Google announced its fully self-driving car name Koala car (Muoio, 2016). Toyota, the world’s largest car manufacturer, placed a strategic investment in Uber and they set up a lab with 50 people to investigate how to work with the artificial intelligence in order to create the self-driving cars (Takahashi, 2016).

The self-driving car is built with the artificial intelligence. Since artificial intelligence is much better and smarter than human, the self-driving car is a new technology that created to save life on earth. Even though during the test of the self-driving, there were few traffic accidents involved with it, each time of the accident was not caused by the self-driving car (Cunningham, 2015).
